Chafer Grub Control

Tell-tale signs that your lawn may be suffering from and contain either one of these pests may be; 

  1. In not hot/dry conditions the lawn is looking brown and not growing well (usually spring) 

  2. Fox’s, badgers or birds such as different variety of blackbirds, crows, magpie’s or starlings are common are pulling at sections of the lawn and leaving tufts of lawn everywhere. 

  3. Large patches down to the soil have started to appear in area’s of the lawn. 

  4. You can physically see leather jackets or chafer grubs on the lawn or patio.


Chafer Grubs

These are the larvae of the chafer beetle these usually lay eggs during early summer they then hatch and start to feed on the root system through autumn and into spring when the external damage can usually occur. The grubs can vary in size but are typically 1-2 cm in size. If left untreated during the warmer summer period the larvae pupate and the cycle starts again.


Remedy’s for this are constantly being changed so if you think you’re lawn may be suffering from either of these then please discuss and the solution can be forward.
